STRENGTH OF FAMILY TIES THESE TEAM UNITS TOGETHER

Three teams will be setting aside the usual boardroom chatter this weekend to celebrate their special relationships for Mother’s Day.

Like many throughout the REMAX network, the strength of family has played a significant role in the success of their businesses. While not without challenges, as with any business relationship, these partnerships are built on a solid foundation of trust and support for one another.

Roxanne Workman, Kathy Sweeney and Nichole Caple are three mothers within the REMAX Australia network who both support – and are supported by – their children in business.

One thing they all share is the privilege of watching their children succeed, both professionally and personally.

Roxanne, broker-owner of REMAX Ignite-Profile, welcomed her son Liam into the business as he pivoted his career path. While her children grew up around the profession, Liam began in a front-of-house role, learning the ins and outs of the business before stepping into sales.

“As you would with any family member, it’s important to separate family and business relationships, and we’ve made sure to continue working that way,” Roxanne said.

“I’m lucky that while he doesn’t work directly in my team, he is part of the REMAX Ignite-Profile family, and it gives me the privilege of watching him succeed in his own right.”

Roxanne said the shared connection and passion for the industry is something special.

A mother of three and grandmother of eight, Roxanne shared that the lessons she learned from her own mother have carried through generations. While balancing business ownership, a career and motherhood come with challenges, she believes it truly takes a village to raise a child.

Kathy Sweeney, broker-owner of REMAX Living, has built a business where family is firmly at the heart of its success. She works closely with her son William in her team, while her other son, Harley, is forging his own career path from another office owned by Ms Sweeney.

Ms Sweeney admits it would feel strange not having them around.

“It’s wonderful to see them both achieve and really find their own place within the team,” she said.

“I’m blessed that they’re incredibly proud of the business and the franchise, which has been such a large part of their lives. They’re proud to uphold the reputation of the brand and what we’ve created together. I think they’ve seen firsthand the impact we’re making.”

Ms Sweeney, a mother and grandmother, said their strong family bond is something they all nurture, and they make it a priority to spend quality time together outside of work.

“To watch their professional careers develop as they build their own credibility, while also sharing in the special moments as their families grow, makes me incredibly proud.”

Nichole Caple and daughters Brooke and Taylah are the mother-daughter team who have had each other’s backs from day one. As the Caple Properties Team working out of the REMAX Bayside office, finding the right dynamic was never really a challenge – it was always there.

“Brooke and I built our careers separately before realising the positive impact we could make as a team,” Nichole said. “Particularly in the early days, when family team dynamics like ours weren’t common, we backed each other and built a fantastic team, with Taylah coming on board too.”

They recognise and encourage each other’s strengths, but what truly binds them is a shared determination and the belief that ‘no’ simply doesn’t exist.

“In what can be a challenging profession, having the support of each other, and the influence of strong, professional women in our lives, always comes back to being there for one another.

“It’s the power of the family team.”
