An almost century old inner Brisbane home is hitting the market for the first time. The quintessential Queenslander cherished by the Palmer family for generations, in now ready to welcome new owners to create their own legacy.
The land – now 129 Fuller Street, Lutwyche – was originally purchased in 1927 by newlyweds Gordon and Dolly Palmer for £630. One of the first homes built on what was originally Williams Road, Windsor, the quaint two-bedroom cottage became a bustling home for the Palmers and their five children, with thoughtful extensions added over time, including an expanded rear deck, third bedroom, updated kitchen and garage below the home.
The bones of this property are strong, with timeless character and charming detail woven throughout the property.
Over nearly a century, the property has stood resilient, even remaining dry through Brisbane’s major floods in 1974 and again in 2022. It offers a rare opportunity for a modern family to further elevate the home while still embracing its rich heritage.
Following the passing of Gordon and Dolly, the home was inherited by their daughter Janice Broad (nee Palmer). It remained a central gathering place and home for extended family and Jan’s son Stephen, who remembers it as a home constantly filled with life and laughter.
Jan, who passed away at 88, lived in the home all but three years of life. Her son Stephen, now the current owner, hopes the property will be loved as much by a new family as it was by the Palmers and Broads.
“This home has held a lot of love and a lot of stories, and shaped many lives over the years,” Stephen said. “But it’s time for it to house new memories with a new family.”
“My mum loved this home, and we’ve cherished our memories here. Now it’s time for somebody else to enjoy it, to transform it, modernise it, and hopefully love it as much as our family has.”
Rarely does a property so rich in history and charm come to market. More than a home, this storybook is waiting for its next chapter.
