Parramatta agency wins over top Canadian agent

A leading real estate agent from Saskakoon has travelled approximately 14,000 kilometres, as the crow flies, to join the team at RE/MAX Xtra.

Kunal Arya was a top agent with the RE/MAX Bridge City Realty when a desire to move this family to a warmer climate and relaxed outdoor lifestyle saw him make the move to Australia.

Mr Ayra had worked as a professional agronomist in the Saskatchewan province before completing his Masters in Engineering (M.Eng Agricultural Engineering) at the University of Southern Queensland  in 2006 to 2008. Subsequently, he ran a successful business in India, manufacturing pavers, before returning to Canada.

“I had wanted to do real estate for a very long time, but it took a RE/MAX broker owner, Brent Haas, to recognise my potential and coach and mentor me.”

Mr Arya was named in the RE/MAX 100% Club after just a year in the industry.

Mr Haas considers the agent one of his most valuable team members and a great loss. “What makes a great agent?” he asks. “One that wants to be better.”

He describes Mr Arya as having an insatiable thirst for knowledge

“Kunal understood that, as an agent, knowledge is one of the most valuable products we have to sell. He has a passion unlike most agents. He wanted to be better but also wanted more.

“Being a part of a RE/MAX franchise removes all borders,” explained Mr Haas. “Kunal could operate anywhere in the world. Not many real estate franchises can offer that, and Kunal took it, another leap and found a RE/MAX franchise that suited what he was looking for.

“As a brokerage our fundamental goal is to support our entrepreneurs so they can make an income, they must feel supported. It is our responsibility to provide superior education and create a culture of winning.

“RE/MAX Bridge City is formed around good people like Kunal and we have grown successful alongside our agents because of them. Kunal Arya is a leader and he will lead the industry wherever he chooses to practice, it has been an honour to work alongside of him.”

Mr Arya acknowledges the support that has shaped his career.

“I was in an office and with a global brand that had a true family culture and a belief in its agents being entrepreneurial and growing their own business while supported by the brand.

“I considered other big real estate names but they didn’t offer the ‘culture’. Put simply, I wanted to stay with the ‘family’,” he said.

He said that like Subway – Mr Arya had owned a Subway franchise in Canada – RE/MAX had global recognition and an excellent reputation.

“You have to be doing everything right to be a great real estate brand in more than 110 countries and territories across the world.”

Looking at where to settle his family led Mr Ayra to research a number of RE/MAX offices.

“Everything I read and saw about RE/MAX Xtra made it initially feel the right choice. Then I met the broker owner, Morris Short, and instantly felt the same comfort as with Brent.

“Here I was, on the other side of the world, and I had two business owners who talked the same language, believed in the same things, and offered the same level of opportunity and support.”

His first contact with Mr Short was via email.

“I saw the email footer showing Kunal worked for RE/MAX Bridge City Realty in Saskatoon, Canada,” said Mr Short. “When he came into my office, he proudly announced that he was coming to work with us and I am extremely delighted he chose the RE/MAX Xtra team.

“Kunal has worked in various industries including hospitality, manufacturing and agriculture for more than ten years, both as a business owner and a manager, and he managed family-led franchise restaurants for five years.

“He is a skilled commercial practitioner who is quickly building his contacts in food franchising, liquor, hotels and resorts, and petrol stations. His experience also extends to residential, agricultural and acreage sales.

‘Kunal is extremely personable while bringing an analytical approach to business. He was in the top 50 RE/MAX Commercial specialists in Western Canada, and his background and experience in delivering customer centric solutions for clients is a valuable asset. What’s more, he’s a perfect fit with the RE/MAX Xtra team,” Mr Short said.
